Who's Payani Dharan?

Welcome. This site is mostly for my Tamil readers. Now that you are here, a few points:

My name is Sridharan Madhusudhanan. I belong to the Indian Foreign Service.

I have written four Tamil books under my pseudonym, Payani, which means traveller in Tamil.

1. Cheena Mozhi - Or Arimukam, an introduction to Chinese language in Tamil.

2. Kavitokai: Varich Chootinum Parpavarillai (Cheenavin Sanga Ilakiyam), An introduction to Shi-Jing, the Book of Songs, along with select translations. (This is the first-ever direct translation between Tamil and Chinese.)

3. MaaRRam, a translation of Nobel Prize winner MoYan’s work, ‘Change’.

4. ELidhil Cheena Mozhi Pesa, PayanuLLa 21 VaakkiyangkaL, 21 Useful Sentences in the Chinese Language (Yes, also written in Tamil.)

I am a recipient of the 2016 SPARROW Literary Award for translation. I have published journal articles on Lexicography, Ecology & Literature.
